Best Espresso Machine

The best espresso machine does not necessarily cost much money.
If you are serious about drinking good coffee, then you need an espresso machine,
and while you’re at it why not buy the best? An inferior espresso machine does not brew drinkable espresso
(as many of us know, sadly) and the best espresso machine does not necessarily cost much
money.
As I discuss in the article on the best coffee maker, different coffee makers
are best for different people – but if you have decided that you want an espresso
machine, then you should definitely get the best espresso machine out there.
When selecting the best espresso
machine, all you really have to take into consideration is your budget. The best
espresso machine is pump driven and not steam driven; reaches at least 9 bars of pressure, preferably higher; is
sturdy and well built rather than just a flimsy piece of plastic; does not have an artificial crema enhancer, which
actually ruins the flavor; has a good portafilter and preferably a cup warming tray. What the best espresso machine
does NOT have is a lot of unnecessary bells and whistles. For instance, a lot of machines out there offer unneeded
add-ons that just raise the price.
Most Inexpensive Manual Espresso Maker

If you are on an extremely tight budget, I would recommend you buy a Bialetti Moka Express, stovetop espresso
maker. It will cost under $100 and save you funds which you should then use to buy a good burr grinder.
This is incredibly easy to use, and while the espresso is not as strong as espresso made
from a regular pump-driven espresso machine, it is strong enough to make great coffee.
Best Espresso Machine

The best espresso machine by far, in my opinion is the La Pavoni EPBB-8 Europiccola 8-Cup Lever Style Espresso
Machine.
I believe this machine beats other machines hands down. Now, if you have read a few of the
reviews we publish here on this coffee
makers website, well, we don’t often make such sweeping statements like this.
However, this is the absolute best espresso maker for a household. I think that even if you spend thousands on a
well-marketed model, this machine will beat them all hands down. It costs $700 – $900 at our recommended supplier,
and I do not think you need to spend more than that to get the best machine out there.
However, with this La Pavoni, as with other espresso machines, you will need to grind your
own beans, so you should keep in mind that you will also have to buy a good grinder, if you do not already own
one.
Also, you will need to spend some time learning exactly how much pressure you should apply
to make your perfect cup of java.
In my opinion, the only other models better than this are professional barista brewers,
which run to tens of thousands of dollars. If you are fortunate enough to have that kind of budget our review of
the best commercial coffee machines will be more appropriate for you.
The La Pavoni also comes in a 16 cup model if you need more cups, as well as a gold plated
version if you like a bit of bling in your kitchen.
Runner Up For Best Espresso Machine

The runner up for best espresso machine is the Breville Barista Express espresoo machine. It is solidly built,
costs $600 - $800 and makes great espresso. It is stylish and has a good frother. Granted, it
has a bit of a learning curve as well, and is not one of those super automatic espresso makers, but it does come
highly recommended.
Best Budget Espresso Machine

If you are serious about buying a pump-driven espresso machine, but do not want to spend
so much, this machine will do quite well. The DeLonghi EC155 espresso maker is about as cheap as you will find
– any of the other inexpensive models will have steam driven pressure, which is not what you want. It is reasonably
sturdy and easy to use. However, there is actually a small tendancy of coffee grounds to get stuck in the nooks and
crannies, so this machine will take some more effort in cleaning, and more regular cleaning than the bigger
machines.
